17 Km from Jaisalmer is the Akal Wood Fossil Park, a 180 million year old forest, which are now fossilised wood. This is one of the few such fossil parks in India, and is a must-visit.

Gangaur, held in March/April is one of the biggest festivals in Jaisalmer. Images of Isar and Gangaur are decorated and carried around the city, finally being brought to Gadisar Lake and immersed. It is a celebration of spring, and a sight to enjoy.
Ragastan is a three day music festival held during winter, in Jaisalmer. The festival brings together Indian and International artistes to perform on the dunes, under the star filled sky. It is a unique musical experience, well worth attending.
