Most tourists plan a day trip from Tiruvananthapuram to Kanyakumari to see the early morning sunrise. But if you are planning a longer trip, then the town itself has much to offer. Sadhya is a variety of pure vegetarian dishes traditionally served on a banana leaf in Kerala, India. Sadhya is a 26 dish vegetarian feast which is served on the 10th day of Onam. Sadhya in Malayalam, means a banquet.

The single largest gathering of women in the world happens once a year at Attukal Pongal Festival held in February every year. The legend of Kovalam and Kannaki is the main story behind the temple. The festival goes on for 10 days and Kannaki is worshipped as Parvati or Bhagavathy.
